Menus

The menu bars behave similarly to the toolbars in that different menus appear depending on what area of Visio you are in. However, unlike the toolbars that are size sensitive, all items in the menu bar remain on the screen regardless of the screen size.

The Visio menu bar is consistent with MS Office and is not size-sensitive like toolbars.

  • No document
  • Drawing (Main)
  • Stencil (Read/Write)
  • ShapeSheet
  • Icon Editor
  • In Place
  • Print Preview
  • Text

Menus - Short Cuts
Short cut menus provide a fast way of executing commands without having to move the cursor to the menu bars at the top of the page. Visio offers 11 different short cut menus depending on where you are in the program. They can be obtained by right clicking the mouse.

Select a shape and then right click you mouse to display a menu shortcut.

  • Drawing Window
    Selected Object
    Selected OLE Object
    No Selected Object
  • In Place No Object Selected
  • Text Edit

  • ShapeSheet
  • Toolbar
  • Binder In Place
  • Stencil Read/Write
  • Stencil Docked

Experiment with the right mouse button. You might be surprised how much time you can save using it.
