Visio Automatic Connections

The obvious way to make a drawing of connected shapes is to drag and drop the shapes you need out on the the sheet then drag and drop connectors you need.

You would save a little time selecting shapes on the drawing you want to use again and holding the Ctrl key down while you dragged another copy off. You can do the same thing with connectors.

Then you just need to locate the ends of the connectors to connection points on the shapes.

There is a quicker way that eliminates copies and saves placement and connection time.

1 First make sure that you don't have a connector selected on an open stencil. Click the green stencil background to cancel any selection that might be current
2 Select the connector tool Standard toolbar connector tool on the Standard toolbar
3 Drag and drop a 2D shape on the drawing
4 With shape just dropped still selected, drag and drop another 2D shape onto the drawing page. Visio automatically connects the shapes with a Dynamic Connector
