Selecting Shapes
in Visio
Selecting a group of shapes is a
convenient way to move shapes around while retaining relative positions or change text or
graphic attributes en masse.
There are several ways to select a group of shapes...

First selected shape has green selection handles.
Others have blue selection handles.
- Click on the first shape to select, then holding
down the Shift key, click on each of the other shapes you wish to select. The first shape
retains its green selection handles. All other shapes have blue selection handles.

Click and drag a selection box to select shapes that
can be enclosed or crossed by the selection rectangle.
- Using the pointer tool, click and drag a selection
box across the shapes you want to select. The selection box is always a rectangle, but it
can be dragged in any direction from the starting corner. Selected shapes have blue
selection handles.
- To select all the shapes on a page choose Edit >
Select All from the menu. If there are more than 25 shapes on the page, all selection
handles will be magenta, otherwise they will be blue.
TIP: The Windows shortcut for
Select All is Ctrl-A.
To remove a shape from the selection set hold down
the Shift key and click on the shape you wish to remove.
