Visio enables you to save information with your document such as title, subject, creator, keywords, and description.

You can even save a preview of your document so you can view it prior to opening.

The Document Properties dialog box allows you to store a variety of general information about the document within the file.

Selecting the filename in an Open dialog box displays the description and the preview to help you identify the drawing before opening it.

The Title, Subject, Description and Preview properties of a selected file are displayed in the File Open dialog box.

By default, the option to prompt for information on save is turned on. To turn this off, choose Tools > Options and uncheck Prompt for document properties on save.
