TrueType Fonts in IntelliCAD 98

Tips & Techniques

IntelliCAD, fonts, TrueType, SHX

IntelliCAD 98 does not support TrueType fonts. This can present a problem when using drawings that incorporate such fonts and where output is required from IntelliCAD 98.

Until IntelliCAD 98 gets TrueType font support, the workarounds is to configure the font mapping definition file (ICAD.FMP) to substitute a similar looking font. For a really good looking SHX font closely approximating a TrueType font you may need to check out third party font suppliers. Third party suppliers of suitable fonts can be found in the Design Drawing Software Catalog.

IntelliCAD does map SHX fonts to TrueType fonts in DWG files where a corespondingly named SHX file is available. TrueType Font Workaround

Font mapping is discussed in greater detail in "Font Mapping in IntelliCAD 98" on Design Drawing.

IntelliCAD does support an interesting font matching system that substitutes SHX fonts for TTF fonts where appropriately named matches exist. Click here for details.
