Visio has revised the printing features for IntelliCAD
98 with the release of service patch "D". This document will guide you
through the new menu options and some of dialogs available with the latest version.
IntelliCAD 98 1.0d now
allows you to print direct to your HP, Epson or Canon inkjet printer or your non-HPGL
Laser printer with line widths and 255 pens.
Once you have received the service patch you will need to uninstall your existing WinLINE driver and re-install your printers. This is because there are also changes to the WinLINE driver. The Print MenuOn Menu tab of the IntelliCAD 98, select File > Print. A new dialog box is displayed providing you with a bunch of new options that many users will be familiar with. From the Scale/View tab are the selections for what you want to print, like the Current view, Extents, Limits and Window. In the Advanced tab are the selections for inserting a Header and/or Footer and Configuration File options. You are able to now import your PCP configuration into IntelliCAD 98 enabling you to keep multiple plotter configurations. The last option is a new feature that allows you not only to select the pen width for a particular color, but also to dynamically change the output color as well for those who plot in color. This feature can also provide you with the facility to either "redline" outputs or highlight changes. This may be a useful feature for those who produce large quantities of check plots. For those who do not use color, you may need to rest the Plot Color Mode in the printer Carousel. Select PrintSetup, choose the printer you wish to use for your output and open the Properties option. From the Document Properties Advanced tab, move down until you come to the Carousel option.
Select the Print Color Mode and choose the option that meets your required output. Options are - Normal, Black and White, Gray and White and Grayscale. For Black on White printing, select this option, and if you need to print in color, then choose Normal. You will also see new options in the WinLINE driver that also allows you to change the output colors as well as penwidth selection for all 255 available pens. This option provides you with all the tools to produce drawings with combinations of color, custom colors and black shaded areas or lines. The options available within both the native IntelliCAD and WinLINE drivers will enable the most adventurous operator to produce virtually any combination of output. The added advantage of the new driver is that you are now able to print client files without the need to change your normal print style through the re-assignment of output colors. For those who print / plot files from several clients, will find this feature extremely useful. Peter Coburn, Chris Ainsworth & Lisa Preston
